Now, let’s take a look at how to connect Stripe and WooCommerce step-by-step using a plugin.
How to Add Stripe to WooCommerce?
Required: Before we run into the setup process, make sure to install the SSL certificate on your WooCommerce store.
You need an SSL certificate to ensure that your customers’ shopping and credit card details are safe.
WooCommerce Stripe plugin is there to help you easily connect Stripe with WooCommerce store.
To continue the setup process, first, make sure to create your Stripe account.
Step 1: Get your Stripe API Keys
First, we need to get our Stripe API keys from the Stripe dashboard, which we will use to connect Stripe with the WooCommerce plugin.
Log in to your Stripe account, go to the dashboard and click on Get your test API keys. Once you want to go Live with your Stripe account, just switch off the Viewing test data button.
Save both the Publishable Key and the Secret Key, because you’ll need it for later.
Step 2: Install Stripe WooCommerce Plugin
In case you didn’t download the WooCommerce Stripe plugin, go to your WordPress dashboard, click Plugins, then Add New and search for “WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway.”
Click Install Now and then activate the plugin.
Once you activated the plugin, go to its settings to configure it.
Step 3: Configure Stripe WooCommerce Plugin
From the Payment settings tab, copy the webhook endpoint and add it inside your Stripe dashboard to generate the Webhook Secret Key.
Copy this Webhook Secret Key and add it inside your WooCommerce Stripe plugin settings.
Then, inside the WooCommerce Payment setting tab, insert the Publishable Key and Secret Key that you copied from the Stripe dashboard at the beginning.
Here, you can edit the text and color of the payment button, enable payments from Apple Pay, etc.
After you’ve done with your setup click on Save changes to activate your payment gateway in testing mode.
Step 4: Test WooCommerce Stripe Plugin
Now it’s time to test Stripe integration with our WooCommerce store.
First, add a product to the cart from your WooCommerce store and proceed to checkout.
Here, you can see the options to pay using a credit or debit card, and it says that you’re currently in test mode.
Since it’s test mode, you can use the testing card information that Stripe provides to you to test out the payment process.
Insert the test credit card details to pay for your product.
After you insert all the necessary information and card details, click the Purchase button.
Once you purchased a product, a receipt is generated into WooCommerce showing that your order has been successfully done.
Inside the WooCommerce > Orders, you can see the recent order's payment details and transaction ID of the customer.
Now when all is okay with testing it’s time to go live!
Step 5: Let it go LIVE and start processing payments!
To switch your payments into live mode, go to the WooCommerce settings and disable the Test Mode by unchecking Enable Test Mode.
Then, uncheck the Testing mode in Stripe and update the Publishable and the Secret Key with the LIVE ones.
